I am from the south and I was taught at an early age “you don’t look a gift horse in the mouth” you take what is given and you appreciate it. I appreciate it more than if I had bought it myself. I know that Silver cared enough to give a gift that some of us (myself included) wouldn’t of had a chance to have otherwise.

Yes, I am one of those that learned about the giveaway at another forum, but I am not sorry. I am very happy, not just because I won, but because I found this blog. I like it here and I intend on staying, I would have done so even if I hadn’t won.

Thank you for the well wishes for my granddaughters recovery concerning her lung transplant. She has had some complications, but we are hoping the worst is behind her. As I said before when things have settled down and I know my granddaughter is going to be alright I will install Win 7 and leave feedback.

So very sorry Silver, this is certainly a misunderstanding on my behalf. I did read your posts and your email but failed to understand the meaning of the word “perpetual”, which I only realized right now reading your post. The only excuse I have is that I’m not a native English speaking person and my vocabulary is not that rich.

I never meant to insult you or doubt your intentions about the great gift you gave us all.

Since it seems that the more I talk the whorse I make things, I’ll be silent from now on.

I started this topic in hopes to address some ambiguities from the comments and mails I got these days.

I noticed you came here around the final day of my giveaway, when all the detail about this giveaway was clearly put in the blog entry I composed prior to the beginning of this activity. It said, “Licenses rolled out in Windows 7 giveaway are perpetual“. You can also find this claim in my congratulation letters.

The fact that so many people wouldn’t read what I wrote there at all made me decide to replace all the words with my latest notice to better communicate with all the people rushing here.

Clearly you missed what was written there, although that was replaced later by simple notices, but I only replaced it on the day this giveaway was ended. Judging from the fact that you were on the winner list, you must had the opportunity to read that before it’s replaced. Even if you missed the claim there, you still had good chance to read it in your congratulation letter I sent later.

However, apparently you didn’t read that, so I can only think you didn’t care about it even though you had time and chance to read it, but you did care enough to take some time to complain here…

Perpetual license means license that has no expiration, right?

And imagine, if the licenses I gave away here are trial ones that have time-bomb or expiration date, will I pretend that I don’t know about it? Will I say nothing about it? Will I still give away licenses of that kind? Who do you think I am?

I do feel insulted by some of your questions with your attitude.

As for me, common sense is there to eliminate all those possibilities you were worried about. If I decide to give away something, it must be something good, worthy to be called a “gift”. If it’s not that high profiled, I won’t gift it.

After all, I believe misunderstanding to a certain degree caused your misconception about me. I hope this can finally clear things up.

Ok, it seems that I’ve triggered this post, so I think it’s only fitting for me to clear things up in regard to my request.

I never meant to sound ungreatful, quite the opposite in fact, your giveaway is most generous and much appreciated. Nor was my intention to upset you in any way. So, please accept my apologies.
Still, I think a simple question about any time related limitations to the validy of the keys is not an unreasonable request. And I’ll explain myself.
Since you’re the original receiver & owner of the promotion keys from MS, I assume that if any such limitations apply, you’ve been informed about them from MS right from the start. Passing on this kind of info – sorry, I have to insist on this – hardly falls under “support” or “additional services”. On the contrary, it’s somthing one should be aware of and I think it would be much appreciated as well.
Now, if you did imply it with the wording you used in your email and I failed to get the message in the first place, my apologies again. Though it would be helpful to know how long the evaluation period lasts, since I already stated that I don’t have a system ready to test Win7.

If I’m wrong in your eyes, no need to get upset, strike that request and let’s move on.

I wont comment on people who expect too much from everyone for FREE. Supporting promotional giveaways can sometimes be too much of work.
