Just days after Microsoft confirmed the formal available versions of Windows 7, a German website had revealed the shipping prices of these SKUs.

Retail and OEM Channels:

Windows 7 Starter – $199.95
Windows 7 Home Premium – $259.95
Windows 7 Professional – $299.95
Windows 7 Ultimate- $319.95

Prices for Windows 7 Home Basic and Windows 7 Enterprise were not disclosed.

Well, flash back to the days when Windows Vista shipped, they were priced:

 

Windows Vista Home Basic $199

Windows Vista Home Premium $239

Windows Vista Business $269

Windows Vista Ultimate $349

 

If Microsoft truly priced Windows 7 this way, it won’t become a great sell immediately, but if they priced it too low now, it won’t become a great cow at all. What a dilemma…
