When CES 2009 debuts in January 8, Microsoft will release Windows 7 Beta, which marks the coming of another new era in Windows operating systems. However, quite unlike Vista days, when Betas hit, people all around got noticed in every way…this time, Microsoft remains silent for quite a long time, and I suspect they will keep their mouth shut until they truly release it.

People around the world are hugely enthusiastic towards the latest OS beta, who had been praising Windows 7 pre-betas for quite a long time while kept reaffirming the belief that Windows Vista sucks…just exactly the same as they did to Windows XP in 2001…poor Microsoft…

Well, blame it on the early disclosure that should not take place.

Windows Vista spent the longest time under construction in Microsoft history while still not wholly "complete" due to the almost last-minute-for-beta decision to cut down quite a few features in order to ship the OS ASAP back then.

Along with the super lengthy development are the super many dev builds, and the super many ones that leaked to public. People are excited installing the latest builds to have the latest taste. Good thing is more people’s attention are attracted while the bad effect is after a while, not even a long one, people fed up with fancy looks, brand new features, and the sharp changes.

When Vista reached the feature-complete Beta 2 milestone, there was no more obvious changes pending, and then began the process for people to hate this "wonderful operating system" they had claimed for months.

I believe Microsoft had learnt quite a lesson out of that and applied it to the present developing process for Windows 7, which is why this time we did not have many builds to enjoy early taste…

Hope a modest Microsoft will bring us more reasons to be excited.
