Yesterday, Microsoft released the latest update to its prominent Live service, Windows Live Wave 3 RC, which is officially renamed Windows Live Essentials Beta. The latest update had brought numerous changes to Live apps in many ways, the most noticeable are icons.

Very nice design! More modern and more elegant, and most important, more connected to let each of them be considered more as part of a suite.

The most popular app in this big suite, which takes over 100MB, is Windows Live Messenger, whose version will be 14.0.8050.1202 after this beta refresh.

Live Messenger now gets a much neater logon interface without all those unnecessary information, which seems like tweaked utilizing A-Patch with lots of configuration.

Microsoft did it quite right! Just get clean.

Finally it can be officially this clean, with some changes in options.

This is the way I like IMs to be. Simple enough to not divert any my attention while powerful enough to connect me with any contact without trouble.

Seems that Microsoft developers finally heard users’ shout, to replace that bold black background with this, which successfully brings on a feel of eye candy, at least in somewhat way.

To be honest, I am more than happy to see Microsoft deliver such a great version to give everything unnecessary, at least as I think, an option to be eliminated.

Apart from that ad at the bottom, everything else seems quite neat. Great!

And these annoying useless useful prompts can finally be switched off with a simple click. Very nice!

Also there are a lot of nice new scenes for you to have a try on.

After this update, Microsoft Windows Live Messenger has finally become a truly nice tool for communication with enough personalization enabled which is not annoying.

This I like!
