Performance Faceoff: ICH 9R versus ICH 10R
Posted on August 28th, 2008 in Product Info
Recently I found a test about the performance between ICH 9R and ICH 10R. Very interesting while surprising. Have a look.
main hardware configuration:
Seagate ES.2 250GX4 Raid 0
DRAM: DDR2 1000 2GBX4
ICH 9R:
ICH 10R:
Seemingly, ICH 9R enjoys undeniable advantage. Is it due to firmware/software immaturity or the fact that ICH 10R is nothing but a brand new named ICH 9R with somewhat degraded performance? Only joking.
Nevertheless, looking into Intel’s history, we can safely expect future performance of the latest ICH improve by a impressing margin.
So it is not always the fact that the latest must be the best.
Sometimes they are, while sometimes they are really not.

I believe the immature driver are to blame. ICH 10R should be a little bit, if not much, better than ICH 9R. Figure that’s why they name it 10.
