Ever since K10 got released early September last year despite whatever, it has been blamed for the lack of power brought by rather low frequency. AMD promised to raise up the frequency for quite a long time, but failed so long to deliver until recently. Now things could change.

Everyone is keeping an eye upon AMD, wishing it to refresh the whole Barcelona product line sooner rather than too late. Truly dangerous situation as AMD is now in, they need such a great chip very badly, if not desperately, and ASAP.

After all, lucky AMD has got its refreshment done in time, in name of Deneb.

A Chinese DIY forum demonstrated a mini test of such a 45nm piece from AMD.

Test setup [Provided as is, though a little ambiguous]

Motherboard: MSI RD790

Memory: Treem DDR2 800 1GB * 2 4-4-4-8

Cooler: TT Big Typhoon air cooler

Overclock me, babe.

Finally, AMD, for its first ever time, reached within 20s when calculating Super Pi 1M, although at a price of the very high voltage, 1.568v. Compared it with Intel’s counterpart which can surely gain a healthy result within 20s at only about 2.3G, AMD’s road to future is still in shadows.

Nevertheless, we now end up with a new CPU line that could potentially compete with Intel’s offerings. Well done, AMD! Just keep going!
